Refractive Surgery

Most commonly we think of this as “LASIK”, but there are many other types of refractive surgery, including PRK, ICL and Refractive Lens Exchange. It is vital to match the right type of refractive surgery to the specifics of your condition, including your age and the amount of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism that your eyes have. Dr. Parekh is the only refractive surgeon in the area offering such a wide array of options.

  • LASIK/PRK
  • Refractive Lens Exchange
  • Implantable Contact Lens
Cataract Surgery

Dr. Parekh uses the latest in lens removal technology. He prefers the smallest incision size to encourage rapid healing and return of vision. This surgery is an out-patient surgery and takes just a few minutes in the operating room. It is done in the setting of local anesthesia and intravenous sedation, so the patient is typically calm and comfortable throughout the procedure. Patients often forget the entire experience due to the medications given during surgery.

Patients return home after surgery and are seen in the office the next day. Most activities can be resumed soon after surgery.

YAG Capsulotomy

In the days and weeks after surgery, a scar tissue can develop around the lens implant. This “posterior capsular opacity” or PCO is very common, and can lead to blurry vision and glare, symptoms much like the original cataract caused. Fortunately, it is easily treated with a laser procedure called YAG capsulotomy. This procedure is painless and is done in the office.

Glaucoma Surgery
iStent

The first line of surgical options are the minimally invasive techniques like the iStent. These types of surgeries often help prevent the need for major glaucoma surgeries like Tube Shunts or Trabeculectomy, which have a higher complication rate.

The iStent is performed along with cataract surgery and the device helps bypass the Trabecular Meshwork–an area that prevents the outflow of fluid.

Advantages of LASIK

If you have worn glasses or contact lenses for a long time, you may have wondered if LASIK surgery is a good choice for you. While not everyone is a candidate for LASIK, it does have some great advantages. People who play sports, have allergies, or who are looking for simplicity will all benefit from LASIK. To learn more about LASIK and your vision, call Enhanced Eye Care.

Am I a Candidate for LASIK Eye Surgery?

At Enhanced Eye Care, we provide comprehensive care to meet the vision needs of our patients. As optometrists, our doctors offer pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing LASIK eye surgery or other eye surgical procedures. Our goal is to help you attain the clearest vision possible using advanced technologies.

Post-Operative Care

Once your surgery is scheduled, we will schedule follow-up appointments for you. Typically, you will begin these follow-ups the day after the surgery and continue at prearranged times over the following six months. After 1 year, a full exam is recommended to determine the long-term results of your procedure. Our doctors at Enhanced Eye Care are experienced in working with patients pre- and post-operation and will answer any questions that you have along the way. If you have questions about LASIK surgery, call us to speak with our knowledgeable staff.

SLT–Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty

SLT is a simple, painless and highly effective laser procedure done in the office. The laser treatment helps the angle work better, allowing the fluid to flow out more easily and thereby lowering the eye pressure. This is Dr. Parekh’s preferred treatment for newly diagnosed open angle glaucoma because of its convenience and effectiveness.
